My Halloween HARD Costume

one of the first things I did when I moved to LA was to go to the HARD music festival right before halloween. i took a white hanes t-shirt and burned it all over with matches. once i was satisfied with my tee's holiness, i rubbed the burnt shirt ashes all over the top to give it a grungy, fresh-out-of-a-horrible-accident look. then i sprinkled copious amounts of fake vampire blood all over it, added some pins  i picked up from pop killer in los feliz, stuck in some safety pins for looks as well as for the purpose of holding my shirt together, and i danced the bloody night away!

T-shirt Inspired by Horace Roye

recently I've really gotten into vintage pornographic photography from the likes of photographers robert heinecken, wallace berman, and especially horace roye. i used iron-on t-shirt transfer paper from blick so i could rock horace roye's photo "tomorrow's crucifixion" from the 1930's all the time. i also took drywall sand paper to rough up the shirt, get some gnarly holes in it, and ladies and gentlemen i have a new fav shirt.

does anyone recognize that logo from the old marc by marc backpack? i cut it off because my pack was destroyed from me lugging it around campus and being a nerd/hoarder (still am) for so long, and i relocated it on my train case.

Ciggy Scape, 2010

Materials: Acrylic paint, acrylic gesso, cigarette boxes, tobacco flakes, cigarette butts, used matches, galkyd. (48 x 24 inches)

unfortunately i only have crappy photos of this painting because i had to give it away before i moved out of oakland. quite fitting considering this painting is very grungy, ciggy scape would be defiant against having professional photos taken of it, right?

DIY

so i spray-painted the bottom of these h&m wedges red..

then i studded the top two straps with english cone studs (because i bought 1,000 of them a year ago), and spray-painted them 'champagne.'

second nirvana patch (they were buy one get one free obvs) on bland white high-waisted shorts with some more studs for kicks.

misfits strike again

since i can't have mary-kate's givenchy leather jacket from 2007 (drool here), i decided to make my own version complete with a misfits, the clash, and nirvana patch. all hand stitched, can't wait to rock it somewhere other than my house.
